TRANS ACTION: A Step by Step Workshop for Allyship in Action

Tuesday, April 18 · 6 - 8pm EDT, Online

2023 has already seen record-breaking numbers of anti-transgender legislation across the country, attacking mostly trans children in healthcare, schools, and sports. Over 400+ anti-trans bills litter the political landscape. Everyone seems to be discussing where trans people belong - or, rather, where they believe we don't belong.

"Transgenderism must be eradicated," claimed one conservative commentator.

Trans people, of course, do not need to be eradicated. Transphobia does. But how?

True and lasting change not only comes when leadership shifts, but also when society does. We do not have to be lawyers, politicians, doctors, or otherwise politically powerful people to make meaningful change. When we learn how to shift our day-to-day interactions towards allyship, we can save lives.

This workshop will briefly review the political landscape to engage everyone in the context, and then dive into tangible allyship steps. These will be demonstrated through a series of scenarios that Schuyler will discuss in depth, e.g. Supporting a trans work colleague, advocating for a person’s pronouns, a frat member coming out as as trans. He will then open for Q&A, for which there will be ample time.

Join Schuyler Bailar for a 2-hour workshop on hands-on allyship for the trans community. The workshop will begin with reviewing (high-level) the political landscape and then move into providing tangible, easily accessible allyship actions. Schuyler will dissect a handful of scenarios submitted from previous workshops, and then open for Q&A. (If you'd like to submit scenario questions for Schuyler to potentially address, please email them to info@pinkmantaray.com.)

All are welcome, regardless of gender history. Cisgender (not transgender) folks are strongly encouraged to attend, furthering their efforts to support trans and other marginalized folks during this time. Fellow trans folks are, of course, also welcome; the seminar will help provide you with better tools to engage in conversations advocating for yourself.

Registration is $20. If this is inaccessible to you, please apply for a free scholarship ticket here! To learn more and register
