Harassment of Children’s Hospital’s Transgender Health Programs; Belmont’s LBGTQ+ Alliance Response

Over the past few months, Boston’s Children Hospital and hospitals around the US are seeing its employees being threatened with violence, harassment, and protests because of the care they offers transgender patients. Some hospitals are experiencing political backlash by politicians looking to limit surgeries.

OUR RESPONSE:

The Belmont LGBTQ Alliance is in full support of the rights of trans youth to seek medical care and of the doctors and staff who provide that care. We affirm these rights locally, especially in response to the violent threats and recent demonstrations against the staff of Boston Children’s Hospital. We maintain hope since so many have spoken out against these demonstrations of transphobic hate and turned out at recent rallies of support. We affirm these rights nationally as well, as some state governments continue to bring forward anti-trans legislation.

We encourage anyone who needs support during these tumultuous times to reach out to the LGBTQ Alliance.
